13th Annual "Celebrate Our Youth" Breakfast - 2011
On April 28th we held our annual event at the Yakima Convention Center. This year’s speaker was Ben Mikaelsen, a celebrated author of children’s books. He spoke about his personal struggles regarding literacy and personal success as an author. The Washington Middle Schools’ Jazz Band performed and students spoke about how participation in programs funded by the Yakima Schools Foundation added to their academic achievement. We added a Gift Tree this year. Persons were able to purchase a $20 chance to win an item valued at $25 or more. Again it was a fun event, with about 300 people attending.

12th Annual Celebrate Our Youth Breakfast
May 26, 2010 at the Yakima Convention Center, we held our 12th Annual Celebrate Our Youth Breakfast. Our speaker was Ryan Asdourian, the Seattle Seahawks mascot “Blitz” who spoke of his experiences as a part of the Seahawks organization and his positions with Microsoft in their Marketing Division. Students musicians performed, greeted our guests and representatives from several schools shared with the audience the educational experiences as a result of funding received from the Yakima Schools Foundation. This year we added a “Balloon Pop” activity, which was very popular and brought in additional revenue.

11th Annual Celebrate Our Youth Breakfast
On May 27, 2009 at our annual breakfast John Keister, Former host of the Seattle T V hit “Almost Live” provided laughter and merriment for us all to enjoy. Students who were the recipients of various programs and activities provided by the Yakima Schools Foundation this school year provided the entertainment. School bands played. Band students from our 5 middle schools, wearing their new uniforms, greeted our quests. Approximately 300 guests were in attendance at the Convention Center.

The 2007 speaker was AnnRene' Joseph, Program
Supervisor OSPI, with a focus on the Arts - Communicating
and integrating life, literacy and learning through experience
for all learners.
The Celebrate Our Youth event in 2007 raised $26,000. |

speaker - Phil Mahre - From White Pass to Sarajevo & still competing!
Phil spoke on what it takes to become an Olympic gold medallist
and how a person sets their goals and then summons the commitment
to finish on top. He shared his personal story and spoke on how
his life lessons applied to the challenges faced by our students
and educators.
